Kasos is a very small Greek island in the Dodecanese group. It is in southern Greece, just below and to the left of Rhodes and to the upper right of Crete. The closest island next to Kasos is Karpathos, which is itself very small. On a good day Karpathos can be seen clearly from Kasos but during the summer months the haze from the heat often makes it invisible. Karpathos is under an hour away by small private boat, although the crossing can be a rough and is often unmanageable. Directly to the south of Kasos (some way away and not visible at all) lie Libya and Egypt.

There are only two ways of getting to Kasos - by boat or by plane - although traveling by plane is by far the most reliable method. There are plenty of flights from Athens to Rhodes and then from Rhodes there is almost a daily flight to Kasos via Karpathos. The journey from Karpathos to Kasos takes only 5 minutes. In winter it is sometimes possible to fly straight from Athens to Karpathos and then onto Kasos on the same plane. Boats can be taken from Piraeus in Athens or from Rhodes or Crete, however, this is more risky since adverse weather conditions in Kasos often prevent the boat from docking, which means that you have to stay on board and go to the next island instead!

Of course this is the most important question of all. Taverna Emborios overlooks the bay of Emborios which is situated on the north coast of the island facing Karpathos. It is about one kilometer east of the main village of Phry (where the boat docks) so is well within walking distance. You could of course take a taxi but be sure to book in advance as there are only two on the island.
