Imagine a leisurely lunch, lasting well into the afternoon, in a Greek taverna, fantastic food, a little wine or beer, excellent company and maybe some impromptu live traditional music. If there was just one reason to visit Kasos and Taverna Emborios, this could well be it and this is what you might see on the table (click on each image for a larger view):

Go straight to the menu

Most of the dishes at the restaurant, and indeed throughout Kasos, are still cooked to traditional Kasiot recipes handed down from generation to generation. The ingredients are always fresh and of the highest quality. Fish is caught daily and vegetables are often home grown. Salads include a local herb - Kritama - and salt is hand-gathered from naturally occurring salt pans. You can read more about this in our kritama and salt article. But now for a closer look at some of the food (this time click on each image to both see and read more):

And if this is not enough, then there are home-baked desserts to enjoy for 'afters' and even one of Kesara's famous Frappes to finish off. Listed below are just some of the items on offer on the menu. But don't just read it, come over and experience it first hand for yourself!

AND FINALLY... Dinos Makropoulos

Finally, we must mention Dinos. Although he is normally to be found in Kasos (perhaps handing out bread at one of the festivals or fishing off Bouka harbour), he has traveled to London to undertake some research and compare recipes on behalf of Taverna Emborios. Pictured here, he is sampling three different dishes at the Royal Festival Hall in London, on the South Bank (again click on each image for a larger view).
